Protect Your Feet: Soft-Tissue Management of Diabetic Feet

If you are among the more than 25 million adults in the United States with diabetes, you will appreciate the benefits of Thorlos Health Padds clinically-tested padded socks (CTPS), highly effective diabetic socks with unique padding clinically shown to reduce blisters, pain, pressures and moisture. Blisters and any other lesion or break in the skin can set the stage for diabetic ulcerations and amputation. Thorlos padding protects the feet’s skin/soft-tissue so these are less likely to occur.

“Since I started wearing Thorlos socks I don't get blisters on my feet. As a diabetic, this is very important!” Sherry M.

According to the US National Institutes of Health and National Library of Medicine, if you have diabetes you are more likely to have foot problems. Diabetes can damage your nerves (diabetic neuropathy), which may make you less able to feel an injury or pressure on the skin of your foot. Thus, you might not notice a foot injury (unrecognized trauma to the feet) until severe damage or infection develops. This is why skin/soft-tissue management of the feet is critical if you have diabetes.

Diabetes also changes your body's ability to fight infections—a cut or sore may take a long time to heal, if it heals at all. Damage to blood vessels because of diabetes results in less blood and oxygen getting to your feet. Because of this, small sores or breaks in the skin may become deeper skin ulcers; if skin ulcers do not improve, get larger or go deeper into the skin, your toes, foot or leg may have to be amputated. That’s why it’s vitally important to properly manage the skin/soft tissue of the feet and see your health care provider regularly, have regular foot exams and check and care for your feet every day (see IPFH.org's article on "Daily Foot Care for People with Diabetes/), especially if you already have nerve or blood vessel damage or current foot problems. Clearly, preventive foot care is critical for a person with diabetes.

“These are the best. Having diabetic foot issues, I value the safety and performance of these socks.” Herbert A.

Thorlos Health Padds CTPS Will Help You Stay Active

Staying active is a key to managing your diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, regular activity can: improve your blood sugar, lower your blood pressure, help you lose weight, lower your risk of other health problems such as heart attack or stroke, give you more energy, reduce stress and improve your flexibility.

“I walk daily for my diabetes and I swear by these socks. It is common for diabetics to have feet problems but with these socks to cushion my feet, I've had none. I highly recommend them!” Judi H.

Health Padds can help you get or stay active by making your feet as comfortable as possible, reducing any pain and thereby making it easier to be on your feet for longer periods. You will also have peace of mind that your feet will be protected during activity, reducing the chances of blisters, pressures and moisture…the causes of ulceration.

“A sales person recommended these socks for my boyfriend who has diabetes and needs good socks/shoes, especially to work out. These are the first we purchased and he has been able to be active w/out foot problems. I am online buying more.” Wendy V.

    I buy ONLY Thorlo Socks

My diabetic feet feel as if they are wrapped in a cloud. No more swollen ankles. Also, Thorlo has best Customer Service ever. One rep gave me her home phone number. I purchased my first pair at Macdill AFB store in either 1980’s or 1990’s.

    Better that the original

I have idiopathic edema in both legs/ankles. While I liked the original Padds, they still leave a deep mark on my legs where the top of the socks are. These do not. The top has been re-designed with a wider strip of elastic at the top that is much more comfortable. I've already recommended them to friends. They are so much more comfortable than before.

Thanks, Thorlo for your great advice

The PADDS socks are terrific and I really appreciated one of your helpful service "counselors" advise me that my swollen feet would probably do well with these men's socks. instead of women's socks. It never occurred to me to try them. She said they wouldn't leave a mark on my leg because the tops are wider and the foot wouldn't feel so tight either. All true I ordered several more and gave a pair to my mother, who has the same foot issue, and she loved them as well, so I'll be ordering more of the same soon. I've been wearing your walking sock for well over 15 years, but they began feeling too tight after a medical issue. The PADDS sock solved a problem and I'm back to comfort, thanks to a great company that cares.

    For comfort and warmth

I bought these for my husband, he loves them. He has arthritis and these are so comfortable for him during the work day. He also likes that they are not too tight around the top but still stay up. We ordered some to begin with and they ordered more and I'm sure we will keep ordering them. He also has a real tendency towards cold feet and these socks fix that problem.

    Pretty Good Sock

    01/14/18 | By

I have been buying only Thorlos socks for many years... mostly walking socks but with neuropathy in my feet I bought 4 pair of the HPOM to give them a try. They are like most Thorlos better than any socks I have been able to find. I have been happy with the fit and quality of these socks but like the walking socks I don't love the changes made to the tops of them because of that I can only give them a 4 that being said I still only buy Thorlos because being made in the U.S.A. by a very responsive ethical company means a lot to me.

    Great Diabetic Socks

They are so comfortable. I would like to see you carry them in a slightly heavier padding not just medium. I enjoy the new top you have on the sock it doesn’t cut into my ankles.
