Protect Your Feet: Soft-Tissue Management of Diabetic Feet

If you are among the more than 25 million adults in the United States with diabetes, you will appreciate the benefits of Thorlos Health Padds clinically-tested padded socks (CTPS), highly effective diabetic socks with unique padding clinically shown to reduce blisters, pain, pressures and moisture. Blisters and any other lesion or break in the skin can set the stage for diabetic ulcerations and amputation. Thorlos padding protects the feet’s skin/soft-tissue so these are less likely to occur.

“Since I started wearing Thorlos socks I don't get blisters on my feet. As a diabetic, this is very important!” Sherry M.

According to the US National Institutes of Health and National Library of Medicine, if you have diabetes you are more likely to have foot problems. Diabetes can damage your nerves (diabetic neuropathy), which may make you less able to feel an injury or pressure on the skin of your foot. Thus, you might not notice a foot injury (unrecognized trauma to the feet) until severe damage or infection develops. This is why skin/soft-tissue management of the feet is critical if you have diabetes.

Diabetes also changes your body's ability to fight infections—a cut or sore may take a long time to heal, if it heals at all. Damage to blood vessels because of diabetes results in less blood and oxygen getting to your feet. Because of this, small sores or breaks in the skin may become deeper skin ulcers; if skin ulcers do not improve, get larger or go deeper into the skin, your toes, foot or leg may have to be amputated. That’s why it’s vitally important to properly manage the skin/soft tissue of the feet and see your health care provider regularly, have regular foot exams and check and care for your feet every day (see IPFH.org's article on "Daily Foot Care for People with Diabetes/), especially if you already have nerve or blood vessel damage or current foot problems. Clearly, preventive foot care is critical for a person with diabetes.

“These are the best. Having diabetic foot issues, I value the safety and performance of these socks.” Herbert A.

Thorlos Health Padds CTPS Will Help You Stay Active

Staying active is a key to managing your diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, regular activity can: improve your blood sugar, lower your blood pressure, help you lose weight, lower your risk of other health problems such as heart attack or stroke, give you more energy, reduce stress and improve your flexibility.

“I walk daily for my diabetes and I swear by these socks. It is common for diabetics to have feet problems but with these socks to cushion my feet, I've had none. I highly recommend them!” Judi H.

Health Padds can help you get or stay active by making your feet as comfortable as possible, reducing any pain and thereby making it easier to be on your feet for longer periods. You will also have peace of mind that your feet will be protected during activity, reducing the chances of blisters, pressures and moisture…the causes of ulceration.

“A sales person recommended these socks for my boyfriend who has diabetes and needs good socks/shoes, especially to work out. These are the first we purchased and he has been able to be active w/out foot problems. I am online buying more.” Wendy V.

My husband has experienced real relief from the foot pain he always has when standing or walking for long periods. The "Heath Padd" sox has gone a long way to making him more comfortable so he can enjoy daily activities.

    Good/Comfortable Socks

    02/19/17 | By

Have purchased Thorlos for years and love them; wouldn't wear anything else. The HPXW's are very comfortable. The only reason I didn't rate them a five is because they do not have top-of-the-foot padding found in the running socks.

The men in the family look forward to Christmas

    02/17/17 | By

I order several varieties of Thorlo socks for the men in our family. This year I was thinking about skipping the order because I thought to switch gifts up a bit. I was then told - no by a few of the men. They needed socks again and loved what I've ordered in past years. Thank-you Thorlo for becoming a Christmas tradition!

Most comfortable socks you'll ever wait an eternity for

    02/12/17 | By

Very comfortable. Not terribly warm but that's not the point. Took close to a month for Thorlo to acknowledge that I'd ordered them though. Don't order from the mfr. if you're in a hurry.

    Not a fan

    02/10/17 | By

I have only worn these socks once since they arrived. Being diabetic I was looking forward to extra padding. Instead what I got was a blister on my big toe! I will go back to my other socks. I am not a fan of blisters.

    bought for playing tennis

    02/10/17 | By

They changed the way they make the sock. The old ones had more padding. The new ones that, I just ordered, seem cheap and they shrank as soon as I washed them. I have always bought Thorlo socks but now I am going to change brands. I need the extra padding to help absorb the shock from playing on hard court.

My foot pain has gone down considerably. My feet are tender and need some cushion to help relieve pain. These socks have been amazing and wonderful and I will order more.

    Disappointed

    02/09/17 | By

I bought Thorlo walking socks before and loved them. I have heel pain so I wanted padding in my sock. According to write ups the diabetic socks would have the best padding and be the best for foot pain. They were less padded than the walking socks I bought many years ago and they just don't lol like the will hold up as long. Not worth the high price.
