Clinically-Tested Padded Socks For Feet That Hurt

Heavy Gear Means More Pressure on Your Feet

Trekking is tough on your feet. The weight of your pack and the rest of your trekking gear doesn’t just change your center of gravity; it also increases the pressure on your feet by weighing you down from your shoulders to your hips, to your knees, to your ankles—all the way to the soles of your feet. Add to that the rough terrain and the often, cold, wet winter weather and you are likely on the way to foot pain, blisters and other foot conditions. That’s when you know you need Thorlos clinically-tested padded socks (CTPS)—to help protect your feet, keep them warm and dry by wicking moisture, and comfortable in your trekking shoes or boots.

“Love these. I put them on and immediately felt the extra cushioning all around, so much so it felt like my boots were not going to fit. But once on I felt as though my feet were being hugged with a super comfy/warm pillow. I felt like this all day and I had walked in the snow.” Jacqueline S.

How Thorlos Work

Trekking shoes and boots typically have stiff shanks (the part of the boot between the midsole and outer sole that supports the arch and helps give structure to the shoes/boot). Many trekking shoes are made for winter weather, and have leather uppers that resist moisture and snow. Thorlos clinically-tested padded trekking socks, in combination with properly fitted shoes or boots, are designed to help buffer your feet from pain, shear/friction forces, pressures and moisture.  Our exclusive THORLON®, blended with wool and other thermal fibers, provides maximum insulation and wicking—keeping your feet dry, keeping your feet warm, keeping your feet comfortable. Spandex is used to provide additional support and comfort.

“These  socks have heavy cushioning and are durable. They keep my feet dry. Having tried many other types and brands, I have settled on Thorlo TKX.” Paul V.

Clinically-Tested Padding

Thorlos clinically-tested padded trekking socks are recommended if your feet hurt during or after trekking and to help prevent any foot conditions. The padding is placed precisely where your foot needs protection, and has been clinically shown to reduce blisters, pain, pressures and moisture:

Ball and heel padding: Extra thick cushioning in the ball and heel reduces shock, impact, shear and blisters while trekking.

Instep padding: Moderate cushioning protects against boot pressure and allows for a better fit at the arch.

Ventilation panel: Brings wicking to a whole new level, helping to keep feet warm and dry.

“I hiked 45 miles in and out of the Grand Canyon, outlying areas and Sedona trails and vortexes. I have feet issues, wear orthotics, and these Thorlos were the only thing that saved my feet. Everyone else on the trip (eight others) including two experienced guides, had feet issues. I was the only one who walked away, literally with comfortable, pain-free feet. I will only buy Thorlos!” Elaine W.

“I bought two pairs and they are perfect for wearing with my Blunnies. However, I did not anticipate that my girlfriend would love them so much. They seem to keep disappearing so I will need to get some more - in her size so I can get mine back!” Richard W.

Employee Favorite

“Mostly I’m a week-end backpacker but if I have some buddies who want to do a longer trip and my schedule can accommodate it, I’m there.  For those longer days and greater distances, I use the TKX.  I usually pack a slightly heavier pack (extra food and clothing), and the padding in the TKX helps cushion my feet and seems to help offset the extra weight.” Rick Mende, Business Development / Product Performance

    Thorlo TKX is just right

    | By

Each day I do a lot of walking for a major shipping company. Years ago I decided to wear the best shoes and the best socks. No question, I choseThorlo socks. Needing a lot of bottom-of-the-foot padding in a sock, I thought I had the best padding with Thorlo's XJ, KXW, and KX socks. Not so. During a telephone chat with Susan Graham, the gracious face of Thorlo, she recommended the (ahhhhh....) perfect padded sock for me: TKX. I am so glad I followed her advice. God bless you, Susan Graham!

    Best socks I know of

    | By

I have hiked thousands of miles in the woods and have never found a better sock for the purpose. For that matter, I wear these daily on my job as an ER Physician. I am on my feet all day long yet my feet are rarely tired or aching. I don't think you could ever ask a sock to do more for you. Try them!

LOVE THEM but get the next size up

    | By

These are very supportive - great padding, great support. HOWEVER, i have hammer toes and these are so snug that it cramps them up. I will order again, but i will definately order the next size up.

    Excellent Materials, Pretty Good Fit

    | By

I bought these because I wanted a crew-style athletic sock for winter wear. The fabric wicks and washes well. The fit, though, seems a bit looser than the shorter socks I've bought here. The fabric seems to bunch a bit or the heel rides up the back of my foot. I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe, which is the largest size recommended for this sock, so I was expecting a somewhat snugger fit.

Best socks for hiking and working!

    | By

I work outdoors in the Colorado winter. There is no other sock on this planet that I like as much as these. I have used these socks for over 20 years and will keep buying them in quantity until the world ends! Did I mention that they are comfortable?

My husband has worn and enjoyed these socks for years. Just recently bought him a new supply. The quality and comfort never changes like so many products these years. Thanx Thorlo!
