Padding Clinically Shown to Reduce Foot Pain for People with Arthritis
Thorlos’ uniquely constructed padding has been clinically shown to provide pain relief and reduce pressures that plague feet affected by rheumatoid arthritis. If you are among the 50 million Americans with rheumatoid arthritis, you will appreciate the guaranteed benefits of clinically-tested Thorlos padded socks, with padding clinically shown to reduce blisters, pain, pressures and moisture. According to the Arthritis Foundation, arthritis—in all its forms—is a more frequent cause of activity limitation than heart disease, cancer or diabetes, and one in three people with arthritis experiences work limitations. Countless more are in constant pain.
The structural changes to the foot that accompany the progression of arthritis — e.g., joint damage, foot deformity, hammer toes, bunions — make feet vulnerable to pain and further damage even with mild impact. Thorlos unique padding acts as a protective shield against jarring impacts, which can be painful, from walking on hard surfaces as well as up and down stairs. While the pain-reduction research results were based on rheumatoid arthritis sufferers, we have a large amount of anecdotal evidence that the padding reduces foot aches and pain generally.
Thorlos CTPS Will Help You Stay Active
Arthritis often causes foot pain and other problems that severely restrict mobility. Thorlos clinically-tested padded socks (CTPS) help you stay active and function to the best of your ability. With Thorlos, your walking/mobility program—a key to maintaining function and reducing arthritis foot pain and other symptoms—will be easier on your joints, and potentially more enjoyable.
Satisfied Wearers Say It Best
Here are what some of our customers with arthritis are saying about Thorlos CTPS:
“I have terrible feet, with many problems such as arthritis, bunions, hammer toes, martin toes and neuropathy. I am prone to blisters, calluses and pressure points on my feet. Since wearing these socks ,my problems have been alleviated considerably and generally just feel better. These socks allow me to do more physical activity because my feet don’t poop out on me.” John S.
“I bought these to wear with my CROW boot AFO which I wear for my for Charcot ankle/foot. They are perfect, fit to knee and great padding on the Achilles tendon. Help my poor old worn out arthritic foot also by providing padding and wicking away of moisture.” Terri M.
“I purchased these for my daughter, an assistant store manager for large grocery chain, when she was diagnosed with reactive rheumatoid arthritis in her feet and hands. They helped immensely during her long recovery time, which confirmed my love of these socks. She is sold on these socks forever now.” Regina C.
“These socks are a major comfort for my feet which suffer from arthritis among other problems. The soft, springy construction provides buffering as well as support. They are comfortable in summer and winter and are so durable that the initial cost is easily justified.” Helen M.
Still Have Questions?
We invite you to call 704-902-1406 to discuss how Thorlos can make a difference in your life with Jeff Lawson, who has been managing his own rheumatoid arthritis for the past 30+ years.
Every person’s arthritis manifests differently, so it’s not possible to recommend an “arthritis sock” per se. What you can do is identify where your pain tends to be, and how your daily and recreational activities impact that pain. Then you can choose the right clinically-tested Thorlos for you.
If you need:
Ball – Heel Protection: Clinically-tested Thorlos PADDS will protect and cushion the bottom of the foot.
Ball – Heel – Instep Protection: Thorlos clinically-tested padded walking socks will protect and cushion the bottom of the foot, and provides extra padding protection for the top arch area of the foot.
Ball – Heel – Top-of-Toe Protection: Thorlos clinically-tested padded tennis socks will protect and cushion the bottom of the foot and the top of toes…provides extra toe protection for those with moderate/severe hammer toes.

Reviews for Thorlos ARTHRITIS

I bought these expecting high quality and comfort given the premium price of these socks. They were comfortable but a hole appeared after just a month of use. These were exclusively worn in my home. It's not like I was out hiking in them. When I complained to customer service they required a picture of the socks. Then they refused to refund my money unless I paid to have them shipped back to their headquarters. Very disappointing. Would not purchase again.

My feet don't feel constrained, as if I 'm not wearing socks at all. I've even enjoyed sleeping in them to keep my feet warm due to nerve damage, as recommended by my doctor.

I have arthritis in my right foot and have been searching for a sock with a thick sole. I have finally found one. This is the most comfortable sock I have ever worn. Kudos to Thorlo!

I am not big on the cotton dress socks, but I did like these over the WX socks because they do not have elastic at the top of sock which can cinch your skin regularly. These do not do that. There is a bit of change that is required, in that once you adjust to the new sock rather than traditional dress sock (which has less cotton), you will find these are so comfortable and as the moisture is wicked away, you look forward to putting these socks on every time you get ready to use them. Now that's a comfortable sock!

I bought these for my husband and father and they love them. The extra cushion is great and they wash well.

The socks come off too easily; not made as well as previous make/models.

They are really comfortable socks. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and diabitas and have extremely wide feet. I didn't think the sock would stretch to fit my wide feet but they did and they are so comfortable I hate to take them off.

Along with diabetes came neuropathy in my feet. So I am always looking for ways to help reduce the pain in my toes. These socks, worn with sneakers with a nice large toe box, really help reduce the pain. I turn them inside out in the dryer so they get nice and fluffy! These socks really make a difference - and that's saying a lot when you are talking about the pain of neuropathy.

I've been wearing Thorlos for more than 30 years. They are the most comfortable socks, underfoot, that I've ever owned. Only downside is the tops, which are tight enough to bind. Didn't used to be a problem, but now, more than halfway through my eighth decade and having developed Type II diabetes, I find them constrictive enough that I can't wear them all day long.
